When the dreamers meet the doers

In every city that HAIRSPRAY - THE BIG FAT ARENA SPECTACULAR tours to, on the final day of the show we gather the principal cast together to have professional photographs taken with each group in the mass ensemble. The process takes a bit of time - we have to get photographs with over 600 performers - but it's always a really special time, creating lasting memories for the young stars of our show.

After the group photos are taken, the principal cast head backstage to meet the members of the mass ensemble individually, take selfies and sign autographs. The stars give their time freely, giving up their dinner break between shows to make this experience possible for the young hearts in the mass ensemble.

This is always my very favourite part of the arena show process. It's the time where we all get to just connect - we're not rehearsing a show, or teaching a class, or running a workshop. We're all just together enjoying each other's company, and it gives us a chance to really properly connect and hear from the beautiful young hearts in the show. This is what the arena experience is all about; giving young creative people the opportunity to connect and learn from the people who are living the life they one day hope to live.

The video below is of our time backstage with the mass ensemble in Adelaide. I heard some of the most amazing stories on this particular afternoon, from inspirational young people who've been through tough times and come out the other side better, stronger and braver. There's some really incredible young creative people in our country, and I'm so honoured to be part of this arena show experience so that I can meet and connect with so many of them. Every one of them inspires me.

Watch the video below to see what went on in Adelaide when we all ventured backstage to hang out with the mass ensemble!
